Our Vision
The People’s Health Watch is an emerging learning space for people, organisations and movements to collectively share their ideas, actions, ways of thinking that are resisting current systems of oppression and imagining what visions of health justice look like in practice.
We view health in its broadest sense, as a human right and a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. To us, health justice goes beyond the offering of health services, but refers to the dismantling of any and all obstacles which stand in the way of a person achieving their highest state of well-being. A ‘watch’ bears witness to what is happening in the world, and provides context. We aim for this process to connect groups and enable collaboration, allowing us to take our first steps towards a vision of a fairer world. We have devised 6 key intentions that set out the purpose of a People's Health Watch: 1. Knowledge
Deepen our shared understanding of health justice 2. Personal Experience Working with people and communities who have experienced struggles in health justice 3. Educate Sharing the ways in which people are resisting challenges and learning from each other 4. Envisage Collectively imagining a vision of health justice 5. Roots Highlighting local stories 6. Collaboration Building relationships across the health justice movement |
