Why Should I Get Involved?

We aim for the watch to enable collaboration, to act in solidarity and to build transformative power for the vision of the world we want to see.

Read on to find out how you can contribute to the People's Health Watch and fill in our online form if you want to get involved
I want to contribute to the people's Health Watch
The People's Health Watch, at its heart, is about co-creation and participatory movement building. We would love for you to be part of it.

There are lots of ways to get involved. The avenues discussed on this page are:
  • Contributing evidence, testimony or analysis to the watch
  • Co-hosting a hearing on a health justice topic of interest to your organisation
  • Joining the team of volunteers organising the People's Health Watch

Sign up to the PHM mailing list for updates on the watch here

Contributing Content to the Watch:

We are collecting evidence, testimony and analysis about health inequalities and injustices in the UK. This can come under any topic, for example, food security, gender, housing, racism, education and social care. Everything in our society shapes our health, and we welcome evidence on any issue.

We would love to hear about your personal testimonies, research or your analysis of a particular issue of health justice. Contribution can take any form - from written pieces to videography, poetry, dance or an event. When you're happy to share your work, it will appear on the website under 'The Watch' tab along with other contributions. You are also welcome to submit already published work that we should include as part of our evidence gathering process on health inequalities in the UK.

'The Watch' is where we will collate all submissions, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!

We invite contributions in any form which are relevant to the 4 key areas:  Context, Resist, Imagine, Connect.
Picture

Context

What is the current situation that you are passionate about tackling?

How does your issue relate to health injustice?

Resist

How can we use resistance to improve societal health?

What are you or others doing to fight against health injustice?

Imagine

How can we reimagine societal norms and practices to achieve health for all?

Connect

How can we work synergistically with other groups to move towards the society we imagine?

How does your issue relate to others?

Co-host a hearing on a particular issue

As the watch progresses, we will be hosting reflective and participatory hearings on different topics of health justice across society, covering the main social and political determinants of health in the UK. If you or your organisation has a particular area of interest or expertise, and would like to collaborate or co-host one of these sessions, please let us know.

We want to recognise and honour the time, energy and labour involved in co-designing and co-hosting a workshop, and where possible we want remove barriers that might prevent your involvement. We have a small budget, thanks to the support of Civic Square. As such, we are able to compensate for your time, particularly if you are a grassroots organisation. Please let us know if this is something you would like to discuss

Keep an eye on our events page for more information on upcoming and planned hearings

Join the team organising the People's Health Watch

The PHW is run by a small team of volunteers, and we are always looking for new people to get involved. No matter what your skills or availability are, you are welcome to join us. You’ll be given some training and on-boarding and no prior experience is needed - only a passion for health justice!
